October is Clean Out Your Closet Month!

Posted on October 23, 2017 at 9:15 PM Comments comments (10495)

If you haven't already done it, now is a good time to put your summer clothes away and weed through them while you're at it. If you find an item of clothing that you never wore last summer, chances are you won't wear it next summer either. Donate it! Get rid of it! Just let it go!

This month I'm offering a service to help you clean out your closet. So for any of you who are having trouble, call me at 774-255-0247 and together we can get it done. Four hands are better than 2! For this month only, I have slashed my fee in half: $50.00 an hour. I am taking appointments at this price until October 28th.

My closet clearing session averages about 2 hours. That is, of course, depending on the closet. Together we take inventory of what you own and evaluate what to keep and what to let go. This process will help you not only feel organized, but you will discover your own personal sense of style. Your closet is the most important space in your home. It is where your day begins and where it ends. Shouldn't it feel tranquil? Imagine how nice that would be! Here's a testimonial from one of my clients:

"I had Deborah come into my home for a style and organization session. The first thing we did was remove all clothes from the closet and put them in the middle of the floor. This is an overwhelming experience in itself! Deborah carefully went over every piece to see what was a good color and style for my energy profile. The lightness you feel from this is just unexplainable; you feel like you've been lifted from the heaviness of the items that you were surrounded by."

- Diane Hazelton

On October 21st I will be speaking at a women's conference in Worcester. You can go to www.womeninactioninc.org to learn more about it. The theme this year is, "I Am Woman." If you are free that day, you might want to plan to attend. An eclectic group of dynamic women from all over Worcester County will be there to inspire you. I am delighted to be part of this amazing event. My workshop topic is, "Connecting to Your Creativity."

I wish you a blissful October. Make some apple crisp or a nice apple pie. Find time to relax and enjoy this month!

Slow Down and Enjoy Each Moment of Summer!

Posted on July 7, 2017 at 10:00 AM Comments comments (1932)

Happy Summer!

Hello! Will someone please tell me where did the month of June go? Do you feel like time is speeding up?

Well, that may be true, but what I am certain of is that we have to slow down. Don't let this summer fly by! Enjoy each moment.

The best way to slow down is to go to the beach and watch the sunset. The awe of watching the sun go down can bring you to that precious state of bliss. Don't miss the bliss! Even if you are really tired at the end of the day, you will be amazed at how watching the sunset can energize you and connect you with the power of the universe.

Your gratitude will bubble up as you experience the spectacular sight. Just go out and watch the sky. Put down your phone and just enjoy the present moment. Catch the breathtaking moment and feel the stillness of the magic taking place before you. In that stillness, you will find you.

The sun sets every day but we are all so busy that we never take the time to watch it. Try to slow down long enough to enjoy the celestial show.

This summer, I will be doing workshops by appointment only. Also, please call me to schedule a shopping session or a closet consultation. If you have a special occasion, I would love to help you find the perfect outfit for your special event! Remember ladies, to stay true to yourself this summer. Let this be your best summer ever!

For those of you who attended my recent workshops, I thought you would like these descriptions of each energy type:

Type 1: Your energy is like the energy of a sunrise. Just as a sunrise brings forth a feeling of hope, your energy uplifts people too.

Type 2: Your energy is like the energy of a beautiful sunset. Just as the afterglow of a sunset brings forth a feeling of peace, your energy comforts people.

Type 3: Your energy is like the energy of the noon-day sun. Just as the sun is hot -- really hot at noon, you are a fireball, and you leave an impression on people.

Type 4: Your energy is like the energy of a lake on a summer day. Just as the lake reflects back, your energy serenely reflects the truth back to people.

During the month of July, try to connect with nature, and discover your true self.

Wishing you a blissful summer,

Deb

False Beliefs

Posted on May 7, 2017 at 10:05 AM Comments comments (639)

Do you have a core false belief that is sabotaging your life? Take off your mask and identify it. It will soon start to lose its strength. Awareness is the secret to stop believing in false beliefs. When you become aware of them, you will have a shift in your perspective.

My near death experience dissolved my fear of death and dying, but you don’t have to be on your deathbed to let go of fear, all you have to do is change your point of view!

Start today. Explore the deep false belief behind your fear, behind your mask. Ask yourself, “How is this limiting false belief affecting my life? Is it really worth holding onto the belief? What are the consequences if I’m unable to change my false belief? How will not changing the false belief affect me physically, emotionally, financially, and spiritually?” Think about when the thought started. Go ahead, unlock your memory and let go of that false belief. Just surrender it.

Now, replace it with a new empowering belief. One that is true and feels loving and supportive of you. How does this new belief make you feel? How can this new true belief change your life for the better? How can this new belief affect the people around you and your relationships?

The most important belief is that you can change. Your mind is powerful. You can change your thoughts.

Blossom into a Healthier, Happier Woman

Posted on May 2, 2017 at 5:45 PM Comments comments (397)

Hi Ladies,

Can you believe it's May? "April is the cruelest month" T.S. Eliot wrote, but now that April is gone, we can say hello to May flowers, even though I'm still wearing a turtleneck! Spend time this week connecting to nature, notice how everything is coming alive. When I see Spring unfolding right in front of my very eyes, it reminds me of ourselves and our lives, how we are all awakening. Everything we need is right inside of us - All the potential to unfold and to blossom into who we are here to be, into our true selves. You are growing and unfolding in ways you cannot see...but you are. Trust that you are. As you start to dress to express your true self, you will start blossoming into a healthier, happier woman. You will bloom into the woman you were created to be.

Spring is the time we all start to de-clutter our homes. Have you started to clean out your closet yet? If you have, I know you will agree, it feels so good, you feel so free. Don't just stop there...while you're on a roll, keep on going. Clean out your internal clutter as well. Look inside your heart. Are you holding onto any resentment ,bitterness, hate, anger, or sadness? De-clutter your mind, heart and soul, start today!

Let go of trying to control people.

Give up always having to be right.

Forgive -- It really is a gift to yourself.

Become aware of the stories you tell yourself.

Be kind to yourself -- Treat yourself as you would a friend.

Remember the singer Helen Reddy's song, "Best Friend"? These are the lyrics:

"Would you take better care of yourself,

Would you be kinder to yourself,

Would you be more forgiving of your human imperfections,

If you realized your best friend was yourself?"

If you really want to be kind to yourself, treat yourself to a Day of Bliss on May 20th, at Mirbeau Inn & Spa. Your best friend will thank you!

Also, on May 11th, at 10am, I am doing a Dress to Express Workshop at Talbots in Hyannis, at the Cape Cod Mall. Hope to see you then!

Happy Spring,

Learn To Love The YOU You Hide

Posted on March 31, 2017 at 9:45 AM Comments comments (1546)

Wearing a mask, I went down a path of self destruction. In the end, as I was dying of an acute overdose of pills and alcohol, I had a spiritual awakening. Saved by God's amazing grace, I lived and the vindictive voice in my head died.

Three weeks later, I was released from the hospital and entered a drug and alcohol treatment facility. They told me that I had to learn how to love myself. I thought, how can I love someone I don't even know. I had spent a life time pretending to be anyone but me. Fear that if anyone knew the real me they wouldn't like me, kept the mask on my face. Once I learned how to face fear, the mask started to come off and I began my journey of self discovery. Years went by before I was introduced to Svaroopa yoga. In that gentle movement I got a glimpse of me, an awareness of my essence, but it wasn't until I learned how to meditate that I found me...the real me. Meditation changed my life and it can change your life too.

Do you wear a mask ? Will you learn to love the YOU you hide?

Why do you hide behind that mask?

Get a notebook and just ask yourself these questions. Then sit. Just sit in silence.

The answers are within. Meditation can take you to that place deep within where all the love you entered this world with is still there. That love deep within you is unconditional love. There is nothing that can separate you from that love. If He can love us with all our flaws, who are we not to be able to love ourselves?

Find a picture of you when you were little. Look at that little girl's picture every day and tell her that you love her.

Listening is a Dying Art

Posted on February 8, 2017 at 3:20 PM Comments comments (11732)

In our world today everyone is running all over the place, connected to electronic devices. People are so busy, no one stops to listen. Eating and multitasking is becoming the norm. I believe that is why so many people are overweight. No one is really aware of how much they are eating or if they are full. If you would like to lose a few pounds, it is essential that you start to listen to your body. You can’t listen to your body if you are reading emails or watching the news. Start today to eat mindfully.

Listen to your body, it doesn’t lie. It takes your brain 20 minutes to signal to your stomach that you are full. You will feel fuller when you eat slowly. Here are some tips:

Before you eat, say a prayer

Take small bites

Chew completely

Put down your fork in between bites

Savor the flavor

Enjoy your food

Eat as if someone important is with you

Eat sitting down at a table, no sitting on the couch watching tv, standing at the fridge, or driving in the car.

Eat when you’re hungry.

Your body will tell you when it’s time to eat. Don’t eat because 12 o’clock is lunch time. If you’re not hungry, don’t eat.

Do you know the difference between physical hunger and emotional hunger? Sometimes what you’re craving isn’t even food. Listen to your soul. Connect your body with your soul. Can you take just 5 minutes and listen? Listen to your heartbeat and listen to the sound of your breath.

The greatest secret to weight loss is self love. Love yourself. Sometimes God uses our struggles to get our attention to the real issues, our separation of mind, body, and spirit. Ask yourself, “why are you gaining weight?” “Have you stopped loving yourself?” Are you disconnected from your true self?”

Pema Chodron quotes, “Nothing ever goes away, until it teaches us what we need to learn”. What is your weight gain trying to teach you? What lessons can you learn? Write in a journal and let your thoughts flow. Your weight gain could be your teacher trying to put you on a path of transformation.

If you want to lose a few pounds, just listen to your body.

How to find YOU in Your Closet

Posted on February 8, 2017 at 3:15 PM Comments comments (2892)

On my show this week, I talked about how to clean your closet. Here are some tips that I suggested:

Open your closet door and confront it

Take a really good look at all the confusion

Take a picture, so you can have a before and after

Take a deep breath and let it go and remove every single thing from your closet. Don’t leave anything on the floor.

Wipe down the racks and vacuum the floor.

If it still looks grungy, give it a fresh coat of paint

Burn some sage and let the smoke get in every crease and crevice to get rid of any bad energy

Now, stand back and enjoy what you just accomplished. Feel the surge of new energy.

Once I told my audience how to clean their closet, I had to show them what to do with that big heap of clothes on the floor. Here’s the key: Only put back in the closet what you love. Love, love love. If you hesitate, you don’t love it. If you spent a lot of money on something you don’t wear, don’t feel guilty. Let it go. Let go of everything that doesn’t look good on you. Now, arrange all the clothes in your closet just for this season. Take all your clothes from other seasons and put them in another closet. The secret is to have the clothes in your closet be for just this season and you love them because they look good on you.

With everything that didn’t make it back into the closet, make piles. One to donate, one for trash, and one for cash. Bag up all the stuff and put it in your car. Get it out of your house!

Now, look back in your closet and what do you see? You see your style in there. It’s your style because it’s the clothes you love. You love them because they’re you.

Here’s another way to find your style: You can discover your energy. Your dominant energy really dictates the movement of your energy and your style. We’re all made up of four kinds of energy: nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, and carbon. However, you lead with one. The one you lead with is your dominant energy. That’s what makes you, you and me, me.

Type 1: Do people call you cute? Is your face round or heart shaped? Do you have apple cheeks? Or a button nose? Does your nose turn up? Is it small? Are your eyes round? Do they sparkle and pop? Does your whole face light up when you smile? You are a bright, animated person because your dominant energy is nitrogen. Just like your energy, you should wear bright colors, animated patterns, round collars, push up sleeves, twirl-around type skirts, anything that sparkles. Just like your energy. It’s your nature. Get rid of any black clothes that you might have. Black is not your type of energy, it is not you. If you need something dark on an occasion, wear navy. It will much better suit you.

Type 2: Do people say you’re beautiful? Is your face oval? Do you have “s” curves on your cheeks? Or on your nose? Or in your nostril? Do you have a blended skin tone? Are your eyes almond shape? Do you have heavy eyelids or doe eyes? You are soft and subtle because your dominant energy is oxygen- a very fluid and flowing type energy. Like your energy, you look best in blended colors, or muted shades with grey undertones. Get rid of black and wear grey instead. Wear blended patterns that flow together, flowing skirts that are relaxed and comfortable. Comfort is the most important thing to you.

Type 3: Do people say you are hot? Is your face triangular or angular? Do you have a square or angular jaw? Chiseled cheekbones? Is your nose angular with triangle shapes in your nostrils? Are your eyes exotic looking? Just like your energy, hydrogen, you are a Rich and Dynamic woman. You look best in rich, earthy colors, peacock blue is good, too. Get rid of all black and wear rich browns instead. Animal prints really suit you. Anything with asymmetric lines and triangular shapes will look good on you.

Type 4: Do people say you are stunning? Is your face an elongated oval? Do you have parallel lines on the sides of your face? Do you have straight lines down the side of your nose? Are there oval shapes inside your nostrils? Just like the energy of carbon- a still energy-you have a stillness about you. You look good in pencil-skirts and straight parallel lines. Just like your energy, you are bold and stunning. Black and white are great on you because of the stillness and bold colors, like cobalt blue really look good on you.

So, if you missed my show, you can see it on youtube, but I hope you learned a little something from this blog.

Letting Go Challenge

Posted on December 31, 2016 at 12:20 AM Comments comments (12861)

My show on Monday was about how you could actually release excess weight by clearing clutter from your life. Recently, I came across a feng shui ritual and it goes like this. Everyday, for nine days, you let go of 27 things. Now, that might sound like it’s really time consuming, but it really goes fast. Just try it and see how good you will feel when you let go.

Clutter is stagnant energy, clearing out 27 items every day for nine days is the easiest thing to do to start the new year off on the right foot. You need to release the old to make room for the new.

To become a lighter more slim version of yourself, start to clear clutter. As you let go, you remove blocked energy and your vibrations will rise. As the energy flows, you will feel lighter. Extra weight on your body and extra stuff in your life often equals extra protection. What are you trying to protect? Are you holding on to something, just in case?

When you keep stuff around even though you don’t need it, you’re telling the universe that you don’t trust it. You need to start to trust that your needs will be met. Stop draining your energy by holding on to older stuff to feel safe. Relax and breathe. Exhale and release what you no longer need in your life. As you start to let go of your stuff little by little, you will begin to let go of that need for protection and begin to feel secure and emotionally safe to let go of the weight.

Weight gain is another form of clutter. Clutter holds us back and keeps us from moving forward and causes stress. Just a few hundred years ago, we had to hunt for our food, it was natural to gain weight and store fat to protect ourselves from cold and famine and that program is still in our DNA. All it takes to trigger cortisol levels is a little stress. Then, the body thinks it has to retain the fat.

When we clear clutter, our stress is reduced and our cortisol levels drop causing our bodies to release excess fat. Here’s a tip: When you feel triggered to eat for emotional reasons, take a minute to clear out a draw or a cabinet, or your pocket-book. The lightness you will feel after you let go of stuff can help to eliminate the urge to eat unnecessary stuff.

Reducing clutter can also reduce disorganization. When everything is a jumble in your head and you can’t find anything, that kind of stress makes you want to eat. To support your weight release journey, make clutter clearing a lifestyle habit. As you lighten your life, so too you will lighten your mind, spirit, and body.

Another kind of clutter is mental clutter- resentment, blame, shame and any beliefs or thoughts that don’t support your greatest version of yourself. How much dialogue in your head is uplifting and positive. You can actually gain weight from mental clutter.

Start today. I challenge you! Let go of 27 things each day for nine days. Look in your closet. If your closet is filled with unflattering, outdated clothing, you are holding on to unflattering, outdated beliefs about yourself. As you let go of these, you are letting go of limiting beliefs. It’s those limiting beliefs that sabotage your weight release effort. So, let go. Keep only clothes you enjoy wearing and that you look great in. Let go of old sheets, towels, make-up, medicine, the list can go on and on. Just look around and let go of the stuff you don’t use. Keep your vanity tops free of clutter and clean off your kitchen counters.

Look around and see how you can begin to clear away anything that does not serve you. When you do, you’ll begin to lose excess weight. Think about what old habits or old beliefs are standing in the way of you losing weight. Let go of those thoughts and starting today, say a little affirmation, I surrender. I let go of the old, so I may see the new. To make peace with your food and your weight, you must first make peace with yourself and this means learning how to nourish your soul. When you decide to let go of fear, you will start to let go of your excess weight.

If you want this year to be your best year ever, clear up your clutter!
